The Jimmies jumped onto the children's music scene with "Make Your Own Someday: Silly Songs for the Shorter Set", a fun mix of pop, rock, country, reggae, and more.

The Jimmies are an energetic group of singing, dancing kids who never grew up. Leading the band is Ashley Albert who, according to her biography, “strongly believes in the possibility of TWO birthdays.”

With an attitude like that, it's no wonder Albert and her group of merry musicians have won the hearts of kids with their energetic first cd. A group of silly musicians from New York City, The Jimmies jumped onto the children’s music scene with “Make Your Own Someday: Silly Songs for the Shorter Set.”

Parents Enjoy Silly Songs for the Shorter Set

Lead singer and songwriter Ashley Albert entertains the older and younger sets with clever lyrics and a variety of musical styles – from pop to 80s rock, from reggae soul to folksy twang.

The lyrics mix the silly and the educational, with riffs on the importance of covering your mouth when you sneeze (Do the Elephant), a musical tribute to peanut butter sandwiches (The Peanut Butter Polka), and a song that asks kids to identify the sounds of a variety of musical instruments (What’s That Sound?). There's plenty here to keep parents listening as toddlers and the preschool crowd dance and sing along with the music.

The band members for The Jimmies include Ashley Albert, Tim Kubart, Matt Puckett, and Dan Weiner, although CD insert credits laud Steve Gordon for playing almost all instrumentals for the cd recording session. Albert and best friend Katie Sims wrote the lyrics for all the songs and, when the songs were ready, flew to Miami to record Make Your Own Someday in her father’s studio (he’s a record producer). Once the CD was completed, Albert went to work finding talented musicians to play her music and rock out the kiddie crowd. Albert’s hard work (and play!) has paid off, as the band has recently won the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award for Audio and a Parents’ Choice award in 2007.
